Printworks
Before its 2000 opening by Sir Alex Ferguson and Lionel Ritchie the Printworks was surprise, surprise
a printing press . It was first built in 1873 as the Withy Grove Printing House and remained an active
printing press until 1985.It is now one of Manchester city centre’s premier venues and could shorten
it’s name to simply just the works because that’s what it is, a complete entertainment venue housing
it offers something to do both day and night seven days a week . There are 15 restaurants, 4
clubs ,numerous different bars catering to most tastes from students to lounge lizards, an Odeon
cinema IMAX and even a gym are all housed in the former home of the Daily Mirror UNDER THE
name Maxwell house. If you wanted to you could probably spend the whole day there and then
party on into the night without feeling the need to go onto somewhere else because there is such a
good selection of bars and clubs.
