Long Distance Minibus hire

Thursday, April 21st, 2011

This is a blog post to clarify the drivers hours and regulations that are involved when driving a minibus with more than 8 passenger seats. At this time of year I always find myself explaining to no end of people looking to hire a minibus to wemberley for the play offs and fa cup.

Minibus hire manchester to wemberly.

There is three different ways we can do the first one and the cheapest one is with one driver this means the drive can only be out for 15 hours the driver has a 15 minute safety cheque and has to get from the base to pick up point and back to the base at the end of his shift this means you can have the minibus with you usually for 14 hours its 4 hours down 4 hours back this gives you 6 hours at wemberly but dot forget the game could go into extra time.

Minibus hire with two drivers.

This is as it says it is you hire the bus with 2 drivers this is more expensive and you will loose a seat out of the size of minibus you book but on the plus side the mini bus can be out of the base for 20 hours this means you can have 11 hours at wemberly

Minibus hire with a stop over.

This is the third and final option, this is where the regulations come in to it a little more than the others. You hire the minibus to take you to wemberly then the driver goes to ha hotel we have booked for him and he has 9 hours rest. He then drives back for you he is then on a fresh tachograph and the 15 hours can start again so with this option you can have as much time as you like BUT you can not set off back until the driver has had hees rest this is the slightly more expensive option as the cost for the hotel and 9 hours parking is built into the cost this is very expensive in london.
Choose wisely and don’t let cost shadow your choose when hiring a minibus manchester as we WON’T break the driving rules and regulations

How Is My Minibus Journey Cost Calculated?

Thursday, April 7th, 2011

Cost Of Minibus Hire Manchester

A lot of people ask how we calculate the cost of minibus hire Manchester. I am going to try and answer you that question now in this blog post. There are several factors taken in to consideration when you ask us for a price of a minibus, no 1 distance of your journey, this is not a set rate as a taxi this is a sliding rate the cost per mile is far greater for a journey of 1 mile to a journey of 200 miles. WHY? Because unlike taxis the demand for minibuses are not as great so if you pre book a minibus for a 1 mile trip the driver might have to get the bus ready and give it a 15 minute safety inspection (this is insisted on by our operator VOSA) just to take you the 1 mile. He has to drive 5 miles from base to collect you and 5 miles back to base, compared to a taxi who pick up a job in Swinton drops a job at let’s say Morrisons supermarket , 5 minuets later he picks back up at the same place. However if the minibus is going a greater distance then the cost per mile can be reduced
2. The time you are staying at your destination. This is not considered on short journeys as the driver can come back but let’s say its a day out in the Lakes, the fuel costs and the ware and tear on the minibus makes it un feasible to come back and go back to pick you up so the driver has to wait with you so of course he has to be paid while he waits. This is why the time is considered in to the price of the minibus hire.
3 and finally where you are going has a small consideration on to the price. This is because 16 ladies in there best dresses and hats going to ladies day Aintree are not going to dirty the bus, but 16 people who have been to Glastonbury for 3 days rolling about in the mud in the middle of a field, not eaten for 3 days till the get to the shop on the way back. The minibus is going to be in a bit of a mess, so it has to have a mini valet before its next job, this cost has to be built into the running of our fleet.
Once all these factors have been worked out we can come up with you a price for your minibus hire. Hope this helps explains and gives you a slight insight costing of minibus hire Manchester

Minibus Hire Manchester or Self Drive Minibus Manchester – Compare The Cost.

Wednesday, April 6th, 2011

If you are thinking of hiring a self drive bus, why not read below blog to compare the cost first. A minibus with driver from us maybe a cheaper option !

We do not hire self drive buses, this is simply an article to show you a bus with driver may be more convienent and cost less.

If you wish to transport a small group of people from A to B, you
normally have two choices: you can either hire a self drive minibus,
or you can pay a minibus company to provide a “taxi” service for the
day (or longer). But if you are unsure as to which option is the best
one for your group, what are the advantages of a minibus hire
Manchester service?

Swinton Travel can offer you and your group a number of distinct
advantages over a traditional self drive minibus Manchester. Our
minibus hire Manchester service is designed to make transportation to
and from any destination of your choice hassle free and economical.

Our minibus hire Manchester rates are extremely competitive by
comparison to the cost of hiring a self drive minibus and we are happy
to transport you and your guests to any location, no matter how far it
is.

Typical hire rates for a 14 seat minibus Manchester plus driver on a
day trip to the following popular destinations are:

Alton Towers – £180
Liverpool – £170
Blackpool – £190
Aintree £175

You might think in the first instance that these rates seem rather
more expensive than a standard charge of £62 plus VAT for a self drive
minibus, but think again, because our minibus hire Manchester rates
are all inclusive!

Self drive minibus hire companies normally expect you to return the
vehicle before 5pm on the same day, and if you are even a few minutes
late returning the vehicle through no fault of your own, you will
probably incur the cost of an extra day’s hire charge. By contrast, we
are far more flexible.

We will not charge any kind of deposit for our minibus hire Manchester
service as our drivers take full responsibility for the vehicle,
whereas with a self drive minibus you would be expected to pay at
least £250 as a deposit against any potential damage to the vehicle.

In order to be able to hire and subsequently drive a self drive
minibus Manchester, you have to be aged between 25 and 60. You will
also need to have passed your driving test before September 1997 and
have no points on your licence.

Swinton Travel does not charge extra for fuel used by our minibus hire
Manchester service. Self drive minibus companies always charge extra
for fuel used by their customers and with fuel currently at a record
high of £1.40 per litre and an average minibus consumption rate of
between 20 to 25 miles per gallon, it is not difficult to work out
that a trip longer than a few miles is likely to rack up fuel costs at
an alarming rate.

So when all factors are considered, the cost of hiring a self drive
minibus is considerably more expensive than the advertised rate you
see on minibus websites and newspaper advertisements. In fact, by the
time you have endured the hassle of driving to and from your
destination in an unfamiliar vehicle, the overall cost will be far
greater than that of hiring a Swinton Travel minibus Manchester plus
driver for the day.

But apart from the potential cost savings you make by hiring our
minibus Manchester for a fully inclusive and no nasty surprises
special rate, you also have the opportunity to take advantage of our
special free friendly tour guide service!

The Swinton Travel drivers are friendly, approachable, and always
willing to do everything in their power to make sure your trip in one
of our Manchester minibuses is one to remember. Nothing is ever too
much trouble for our drivers, so forget about the self hire
minibus—take a trip in one of our minibuses and enjoy the ride of your
life!

History of minibus hire Manchester

Monday, April 4th, 2011

Minibus hire Manchester

has a long and varied history. The city of
Manchester has been populated since the days of the Celts, but it
first became an official settlement in the aftermath of the Roman
conquest of Britain in the 1st Century. In the early days, public
transport around the city and surrounding regions would have been via
horse and cart, and this situation remained unchanged for centuries.

By the 19th Century, Manchester was in the grip of the Industrial
Revolution and the city was expanding at a phenomenal rate. The
Liverpool and Manchester Railway was built in 1878 and was soon
followed by the Manchester Ship Canal in 1894. It was a Golden Age for
Manchester, but while some parts of the city flourished, other parts
were descending into squalor and abject poverty.

The main option for minibus hire Manchester in the 19th Century was a
hackney carriage, but from January 1st 1824, a new form of organised
public transport was born. John Greenwood, the proprietor of Pendleton
Toll Gates, came up with an innovative business plan: he began to run
a horse bus transport service catering for merchants and other wealthy
patrons who wished to travel to and from Market Street in Manchester’s
city centre.

In the beginning, John Greenwood’s transport service only ran three
times per day and charged a fare of 6d for the 3 mile journey. Each of
the carriages was large enough to carry up to nine passengers, and
just like a modern bus service, the service stopped or picked up
anywhere along the 3 mile route. Because the service was cheaper than
the regular Manchester Hackney carriages, it soon began to prosper and
grow.

Before long, other entrepreneurs jumped on the horse bus band wagon
and by 1830, a horse bus service was running between Manchester and
nearby Stockport for a fare of 2d per mile. In 1852, a larger double
deck horse drawn vehicle was introduced and fares were once again
reduced. In time, the successful horse bus business was bought by Mr.
Alderman Mackie and the City Omnibus Company was formed.

Public transport in Manchester expanded rapidly and by the end of the
19th Century, the residents of Manchester who could afford to pay for
public transportation had plenty of options for traversing the city.
Up until the outbreak of the First World War, electric tramways and
trolley buses were the main mode of public minibus Manchester service
across the city, but by 1926, the Manchester Corporation Tramways
Department had become the Manchester Corporation Transport Department.

The evolution of the petrol engine soon changed the face of public
transportation forever and motor buses became a major part of
transportation across Manchester. By 1926, the Manchester Corporation
had fifty one vehicles running from a new depot in Parrs Wood and the
motor bus service slowly began to expand into the areas surrounding
central Manchester.

Over the next few decades, the bus service in Manchester expanded and
gradually took over from the trolleybuses and tramcars. By 1966, the
all-bus public transport system was run by various municipally
controlled operators and two company systems.

The Transport Act of 1985 brought with it great changes and in 1986,
Manchester bus services were deregulated with the aim of improving
efficiency, competition and flexibility. Smaller bus operators soon
arrived on the scene and began to provide transport services for the
general public. Transport companies expanded and merged with one
another as routes and operations changed over the years.

Today the public bus transportation service and private hire minibus
Manchester market is a thriving business. Along with the local bus
service, private hire minibuses provide an important service for the
people of Manchester and surrounding areas. Minibuses are found all
over the city and they fulfil a large range of different functions.
Many Manchester minibuses operate as tour buses enabling tourists who
are new to the area to enjoy a sightseeing trip in the city, whereas
others function as transport for outlying areas and villages.

In the private hire minibus transport sector, Manchester minibuses can
be hired for a wide variety of different purposes, from private hire
for weddings, funerals and nights out, to corporate functions and
airport pickups, and as in the days of John Greenwood’s horse bus
service, modern Manchester minibus hire continues to provide a useful
service for those seeking to enjoy the shopping opportunities in the
city centre.

There really is no limit to the versatility of the modern minibus
Manchester in the 21st Century and modern minibus Manchester services
offer flexibility for an affordable price. And if you choose to
partake of the services of a reliable and high quality minibus
Manchester company, you will find that your minibus is also a great
deal more comfortable than a horse and carriage rattling through the
streets of 19th Century Manchester!
